Where do you report a suspicious Tweet?

This might be a serious national security issue – in fact, I feel very strongly someone in our counter-intelligence should be investigating this matter!

Today on Twitter I retweeted a tweet, just so I would have it and because it’s about something that has been bothering me since 2013:  Elizabeth O’Bagy.  I strongly suspect John McCain is being targeted by a hostile foreign intelligence service, to make him look bad.  I strongly suspect he was set-up in 2013.

Here’s the Tweet from the afternoon (9/28)  and I don’t know if this has been Photoshopped or not – BUT it is VERY peculiar.

libertybelleTweet text

I sure suspect that Alicia Machado Wikipedia exposure was a savvy foreign intelligence agency at work, but this crap is even worse.  A person commented, “FYI Nikolaki is censored in France”.

A few years back, I was exploring “crowd-sourcing” and a “conservative” blog, The Last Refuge Blog”, which has gained a good deal of attention in this 2016 election.  They had a “crowd-sourcing” format, that covered, among other topics, the black grievance industry, of black political leaders/activists sensationalizing police/black issues.  To make a long story short, I was fascinated with the amount of information they churned out, but I wondered about the fact-checking process and I wondered why they allowed overtly racist comments.  I posted some comments on Islamic history from the Islamic Golden Age (YES, there really was an Islamic Golden Age).  My comments were blocked and I ended up being banned.

When Trump entered the race, something bizarre happened with The Last Refuge blog – it became the Trump Polling Update Center, with constant streams of “Trump winning in all the polls” propaganda and campaign insider information.    Considering the Trump campaign has been a disorganized hot mess, I found it amazing that this blog had up-to-the-minute insider campaign news, videos, and PILES of polling information.

Sure, my questioning nature makes me consider “conspiracy theories”, but the TRUTH is sophisticated intelligence agencies around the world, run long-term programs targeting their adversaries (these are by nature “conspiracies” – in that these secret activities are meant to undermine or harm their adversaries).  So, it’s no big deal to me, to be dismissed as a “conspiracy nut”, because I just keep digging for information.

The Russians are reported to be engaged in a high-level of interference in our election.

Back in the Fall of 2013, I became curious about the push by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) to urge President Obama to get engaged in the Syrian civil war.  The argument was we needed to stop ISIS and arm the  “moderate Syrian rebels”.   Why on earth we would jump into a civil war, with Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya in chaos, Egypt trying to regain stability after the Hillary/Obama backing of the “mostly-secular” Muslim Brotherhood, eluded me.  Then there was the basic question: what is the end game plan if ISIS and Assad are defeated?  The truth is Syrian rebels were varying shades of Islamists – none actually “moderate” and all of them, even though they fight each other, when push comes to shove, they will work together against Americans.

A young woman emerged from the ISW, as the subject matter expert on Syria, Elizabeth O’Bagy.  Everyone from Jonh Kerry, to John McCain, to the media bought into O’Bagy, because the ISW put her forth as The Expert on Syria.   O’Bagy, did not have a doctorate degree, she was the political director of a lobbying group called the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF).  She wrote a paper on Syria, in 2012,  for the ISW and in her bio, she listed her thesis topic as “female militancy”.  Since the ISW never even vetted her educational credentials,  I doubt they looked closely at her background.  She was exposed as having lied about her educational credentials and was fired by the ISW.  Senator John McCain, turned right around and hired her, as a legislative assistant.

O’Bagy and her SETF lobbying group escorted John McCain to Syria, in the Spring of 2013, on a “secret” fact-finding trip.  A photo of John McCain started floating about the internet, from his trip to Syria, with allegations that he was posed with Palestinian/ISIS terrorists, in fact, the president of the SETF, was reported to have ties to Palestinian terrorists.  McCain’s staff dismissed this claim.  BUT John McCain turned right around and hired this woman, who had just been exposed as having lied about her educational credentials.  I’ve written extensively about O’Bagy, starting on September 3, 2013:

https://libertybellediaries.com/2013/09/03/stumbling-upon-some-facts-in-less-than-5-minutes/

And plenty more,,,

I and many other journalists (google Bryan Preston and Patrick Poole at PJ Media)  have written extensively about O’Bagy, the Syrian moderate mirage, and the reliance of top government officials on this woman’s “information” over VETTED US intelligence information:

“At another hearing that week, Kerry responded to a lawmaker’s skepticism about the existence of moderate rebels by saying that only a fraction of the fighters were “al Qaida and the bad guys.” Maybe 15 to 25 percent, he estimated.

“There is a real moderate opposition that exists,” Kerry said.

If the skeptical lawmaker was reassured, professional Syria watchers were not. Many were aghast at what sounded to them like either dangerous naivete or an outright lie, given that the U.S. government’s own internal assessments had found from very early in the conflict that al Qaida-style extremists were playing an outsized role in the rebel fight.”

I have no idea who to contact, but someone should be checking out this tweet – it was posted to Evan McMullin and Meghan McCain.

Vile “fat-shaming”?

As regular readers know, I am #NeverTrump&NeverHillary.  These two are both morally bankrupt and the top-tier deplorables in America.  Watching them try to outsleaze each other is exactly like many of us expected it would be – scorched earth all the way.  Most of the  mainstream media are busy dissecting Trump completely, while busily carrying water, aiding and abetting, and even doctoring photos for hard news to boost Hillary.  They are corrupt.  They were corrupt in the GOP primary too – giving Trump, a NY liberal, BILLIONS in free media to run his GOP Insurgency and sitting on negative Trump stories.  They were helping Hillary, because Trump looked to be the easiest candidate to beat.  He is as corrupt as the Clintons  and in a fitting bit of irony, he has mastered the Clinton scorched earth too.

Hillary used this Hispanic beauty queen as her narrative on Trump being a deplorable misogynist.  Do I believe Trump is a vile jerk, who says beyond the pale things?  Absolutely!  However, if you want to present someone as the paragon of offended feminist virtue and assert that Trump “fat-shamed” this beauty queen, well, he gets a chance to defend himself.  Ed O’Keefe, at Washington Post Politics,  posted the above,  CNN video, on Twitter from 1997.

You can’t make up this stuff …

Hillary brought up beauty queen, Alicia Machado, at the debate last night, whom she claimed Donald Trump fat-shamed.  In case this former Miss Universe’s, Wikipedia entry is changed, I need to post this mess that’s there now.  Apparently, the Hillary and media fact-checkers didn’t bother.  Here’s the entry on her personal life:

Accusation of accessory to attempted murder[edit]

In January 1998, Machado was accused in court of aiding in an attempted murder in Venezuela, in a shooting for which her boyfriend at the time was indicted. According to the Associated Press, Machado was accused in court documents in Caracas of driving the get-away car for her boyfriend from the scene of the shooting. She was not indicted due to insufficient evidence, although her boyfriend was indicted and the judge stated that there were no alibi witnesses for Machado.[3][4] According to Reuters, the judge presiding over the case subsequently accused Alicia Machado of threatening to have him killed: “she [said] she would make sure, using her friendship with the president (Rafael Caldera), that my career as judge is ruined and then she would kill me.”[5]

Relationships[edit]

In 2005, Machado was engaged to baseball star Bobby Abreu. During their engagement she was on the Spanish reality show La Granja, where she was filmed on camera during the show having sex with another member of the show, Spanish driver Fernando Acaso. She was expelled from the show and shortly after the video surfaced Abreu ended their engagement.[6][7]

On June 25, 2008, Machado gave birth to a daughter, and said that the father was her best friend Mexican businessman Rafael Hernandez Linares. Mexican news sources, quoting the Attorney General of Mexico, reported that the real father of her child was Gerardo Alvarez-Vazquez, the Mexican drug lord, of the paramilitary drug-cartel Los Negros.[8] The christening of her child was subsequently attended by the chief members of the Beltran drug cartel (the Beltrán-Leyva Cartel), including the cartel’s “boss of bossesArturo Beltrán Leyva, his brother Héctor Beltrán Leyva and the drug-lord Edgar Valdez Villarreal, “La Barbie”.[9]

Political views[edit]

On November 24, 2010, BBC Mundo confirmed that Machado had to close her Twitter account after writing a tweet that called for “peace between the Chinas”, referring to North and South Korea.[10] Her gaffe unleashed a rush of insulting posts, prompting her to go offline. “I now have a lot of psychopaths on the account and it’s best I start another one, kisses,” she signed off, according to Venezuelan media.[11]

In 2016, she has been a strong supporter of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.[12]

In May 2016, Machado became a U.S. citizen.[13] She has spoken out many times against Donald Trump, who, during her year as Miss Universe, she claims called her “Mrs. Piggy” because she gained weight and “Mrs. Housekeeping” because of her Hispanic background (according to the Clinton campaign).[1] Trump said: “She was impossible” and that “[s]he was the winner and you know, she gained a massive amount of weight and it was a real problem. We had a real problem. Not only that, her attitude, and we had a real problem with her.”[14]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alicia_Machado

I added the bold-type.   One can only wonder if she was properly vetted, since she just became a proud US citizen..   She might be the perfect Trump poster girl (pin-up?) for his immigration plan, LOL.

Let me post the references from her Wikipedia:

Winners and Losers

Hillary won the debate, if you judge on being prepared and coming with canned sound bites. She won by not coughing or collapsing.  She received all soft-ball questions and was treated with great deference by Lester Holt.  She came as the smug, sanctimonious, gloating Queen.

Trump knew nothing, seemed rattled and defensive many times.  He was combative, rude, completely unprepared.  He offered nothing that sounded remotely like a Republican or conservative policy. He came as the smug, mega-rich con man, NY liberal Democrat, Reality TV star.

He was the same Trump who won the GOP nomination with the media giving him billions in free media and touting, “Trump doesn’t play by the rules”, “he’s winning”, etc. etc.  No one seems to care about how the media elites came to be giving one GOP candidate all that free media or how they failed to report these mountains of negative news stories, they’re dumping now.

The Washington Post has 20 reporters working on digging up dirt on Trump, with one reporter breathlessly reporting each new allegation about the Trump Foundation on Twitter, but nothing about the Clinton Foundation or Hillary’s email server. While the media should have been digging into her server during the last year, they were busy selling the GOP Insurgent.

Trump lost last night’s debate, by any measure of a candidate being competent on public policy,  just like he lost every GOP primary debate, by that metric.  The difference last night was the liberal media wasn’t spinning him as an Insurgent or proclaiming he’s above the rules, like they did in the primary.  Holt didn’t ask one question about the just released FBI notes, Benghazi, her role in Libya, which all go to her job performance as Secretary of State.  She was allowed to gloat about all the miles she traveled as Secretary of State, while being absolved from having to answer for her conduct or the results of all her travel.

Not sure any of that matters, because the media lost big time last night – the bias was so overt and palpable, that it smacked you in the face – no questions on Benghazi, Libya, the just released FBI Notes, the multiple terrorists attacks in the past week in America.

Instead, there were long blocks devoted to Trump’s support of invading Iraq (when he was a private citizen), but no question to Hillary, when she voted for it as a Senator.

Then there was the birtherism again.  Sure, plenty of Americans who bought into that are out and out racists, but President Obama’s own actions of putting Islamist apologists in charge of policing “Islamophobia” and such semantical word games, like calling the Islamist massacre at Fort Hood “workplace violence,” also feed the distrust many Americans feel about President Obama.

The media is complicit in downplaying the growing Islamist radical threat in America.

The Obama administration’s blind-eye to the rising ISIS-inspired attacks on American soil might end up upstaging Hillary’s canned sound bites and liberal media gloating. In the last week, there was the explosion in NYC/NJ, there was the mall stabbing Somali in MN that same night.  There was also a mall shooting in Washington state, by a Turkish immigrant.   Lester Holt didn’t even mention anything about these attacks in his questions.

Holt  did mention cybersecurity and Hillary rattled off a response.  This woman, who set up an unsecured email server,  who allowed highly sensitive information to be exchanged on her server, and who can’t even keep track of her own blackberries and ipads,  wasn’t asked how she was competent to deal with anything pertaining to “cybersecurity”.

This obvious win might end up damaging her in a few days, especially as the media colludes with her gloating and overplaying her “win”.  There’s also all her emails out there waiting to be leaked….

There’s also the lurking question about the FBI’s handling of her email server investigation, which the media seems determined to bury too.

Seems to me like it might end up like her arrogant “basket of deplorables” speech.

The real loser last night was the American people and how so many Americans support these two vile LIARS fills me with fear for our republic.

Hillary & her Bimbos at work (from the FBI notes)

The latest Friday FBI dump contains 189 pages, with much of the identifying information redacted, making it another process of elimination, as to who is being interviewed, based on who else is mentioned in that interview.  Comey’s charade with these releases has nothing to do with transparency, but everything to do with his trying to salvage his reputation and also bury this story with information overload.  There’s so much politically-damaging information about the Obama administration, in general, the State Department, in specific, and Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, in totality, that as you read along, the Keystone Cop optics, of a bunch of dimwitted BIMBOS  at work, makes you wonder if the cast of Clueless was running the State Department, with Alicia Silverstone playing the role of Secretary of State.

The national security implications aren’t just that every half-decent foreign intelligence agency has all of her email traffic from her private server. It’s a foregone conclusion, that assuredly due to her being a high-value intelligence target for them, and her server being completely unsecured, it was hacked. There’s no way the Russians missed this opportunity. The other side of the national security equation is she and her cadre of bungling bimbos might be running our nation’s national security after November and plenty of Americans seem okay with that.

Her email server highlights the Clinton corruption, but the cover-up speaks to President Obama. His entire administration, to include him, engaged in risky handling of national security information. He was emailing her at her private email address. The IG had cited the US embassy in Japan, run by Caroline Kennedy, as another huge national security nightmare, due to risky personal email use.

Back when the Ukraine mess started, Russia leaked an intercepted phone call, between State Dept. flunkie, Victoria Nuland, and the US ambassador in Kiev, to western media. Nuland was using an unsecured phone. That should have been the end of her career, but she laughed it off and Jen Psaki, State Department spokeswoman, said:

“We think this is a new low in Russian tradecraft, in terms of publicizing, posting,” Psaki told reporters yesterday in Washington.”

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/…

It wasn’t a new low for the Russians – it was excellent intelligence-gathering and savvy propaganda use of that intelligence. These fools in the Obama administration have no clue about national security. The “new low” was that this stupid woman, Nuland, with her “expertise” on RUSSIA, used an unsecured phone to talk to the US ambassador in UKRAINE, knowing how the Russians monitor American embassies and personnel, especially in Ukraine. This is the cluelessness.

This latest batch of FBI notes shows one of Hillary’s flunkies telling the FBI that she was verbally reprimanded for leaving a briefing book:

“Hanley was given “verbal security counseling” after she accidentally left a classified document and a sensitive “briefing book” in a Russian hotel suite she was using with Clinton.

Diplomatic security officers “found a classified document from the briefing book in the suite during a sweep following Clinton and Hanley’s departure” and later told Hanley “the briefing book and the document should never have been in the suite.””

http://www.washingtonexaminer….

Hillary and these BIMBOS will be running foreign policy and entrusted to keep us safe, if Hillary is elected…

Unfortunately, Trump picks people like Roger Stone, Lewandowski, Pierson, Manafort, Kellyanne and Bannon, which isn’t very reassuring.

Same old Public Corruption

The media’s news hounds leaped on the news that Ted Cruz announced he will endorse Donald Trump, but they are completely AWOL on investigating Hillary’s email server scandal, other than giving it the most cursory reporting, before dismissing it and jumping back into exposing Trump’s corruption.

Trump’s corruption needs to be exposed, but so does the Clinton corruption and most assuredly, the media needs to quit selling the Obama administration “narratives” and report on the Obama corruption, which has now led to the corruption of the FBI.  The partisan reporting results from the liberal media’s partisan political ideology.

This post jumps around a bit and it goes way beyond Cruz’ lack of integrity, to the  WHOLESALE PUBLIC CORRUPTION.

Ted Cruz endorsed Trump today, so you know Cruz thinks there’s some political advantage for himself in this.  I’ve never felt comfortable with Cruz’ character.  So, Trump insulted Cruz’ wife and went along with the story that Cruz’ father was present with Lee Harvey Oswald and yet, Ted Cruz, for personal political gain, can still endorse Trump???  I suspect most #NeverTrump people will cave in the end.

Back in May, I posted “A GOP Post Mortem”.  I don’t know if the Cruz’ father/JFK story is pure fiction, if there’s some connection between his father and Lee Harvey  Oswald or Cuban intelligence, or if Cuban/Russian intelligence fabricated this entire story as a disinformation effort, BUT something is VERY wrong with this story appearing in the middle of an American election in 2016 (especially with all the overt Russian intelligence interference in our election).  I sure would like to know, not only if there’s anything to this story (unlikely as that may be), even more so, I would like to know WHERE this story originated and how it ended up in the National Enquirer.

The email leaks, all over the place, keep illuminating all sorts of corruption and also a concerted foreign effort to interfere in our election.  Trump’s campaign is as corrupt as Hillary’s and geesh, Corey Lewandowski is still drawing a paycheck from Trump, while he’s working for CNN.  I wonder if he’s being paid by Clinton operatives too.  Speaking of operatives, David Brock, the Media Matters/Soros front guy, is running 14 Pro-Clinton operations out of his office.  Zero Hedge blog states:

Submitted by Andrew Kerr via The Citizens Audit,

This is serious.

  • David Brock operates over a dozen pro-Clinton organizations from his office in Washington DC.
  • Uncovered records expose a constant flow of money between his organizations.
  • Brock’s unregistered Professional Solicitor, the Bonner Group, receives a 12.5% cut every time money is moved.

There’s a reason why David Brock chooses to house an unregistered Professional Solicitor in his office to raise money for his conglomerate of Super PACs and non-profits.

Professional Solicitors are required to disclose their active solicitation contracts.  Brock wants his unregistered solicitor, the Bonner Group, to keep their client list hidden for a very specific reason.

David Brock is laundering money

David Brock has 7 non-profits, 3 Super PACs, one 527-committee, one LLC, one joint fundraising committee, and one unregistered solicitor crammed into his office in Washington DC.”

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-09-20/money-laundering-scheme-exposed-14-pro-clinton-super-pacs-non-profits-implicated

I wonder if the FBI will bother to investigate this…  What a joke.  Comey will find some excuse, Brock’s just “extremely careless” with his accounting or something…

There’s a Washington Post reporter, David Fahrenthold,  hot on the trail, exposing the Trump Foundation corruption, but he doesn’t bother to even look at the Clinton Foundation corruption.  Kurt Eichenwald, at Newsweek,  wrote a lengthy piece, detailing all the dubious foreign connections in Trump’s financial empire and the Trump Foundation, but he completely exonerated the Clintons with their Clinton Foundation….  sure, “nothing to see there, just move along”.  This is the partisan liberal press at work – they work to cover-up for the Clintons, at every turn.  Andrea Mitchell is so overtly a Hillary cheerleader, that the Hillary campaign should be paying her as a campaign spokesperson.

Trump and the Clintons are the same CORRUPTION!  There is no better between them.

I won’t vote for Hillary or Trump – I just can’t!  This entire election was a fraud perpetrated on the American people.  Both Hillary and Trump are corrupt to the core.  Their foundations are cesspools of public corruption.  These two are sociopaths to the nth degree, so assuredly this debate will be interesting to see how they try to destroy each other.  Let’s see if the crazy eye fells Hillary or if she gets Trump to go full “loose cannon”, which isn’t that far-fetched, considering her screeching tirades can make just about anyone go berserk…

Here we are, days away from the first presidential debate and the FBI dumps 189 pages of heavily redacted interview notes, at the end of the day, on a Friday.   Comey was part of the cover-up in Hillary’s email scandal.  He caved to the Obama/Clinton pressure.  Cheryl Mills was granted immunity as a witness and then allowed to be present for Hillary’s FBI interview, as one of Hillary’s lawyers???  What the hell kind of corrupt bullshit is that?

Monday, June 27, 2016:  Bill Clinton met with Loretta Lynch on the tarmac in Phoenix.

Saturday, July 2, 2016:  There’s this shifty FBI interview set-up, with Hillary on  a Saturday morning on a HOLIDAY WEEKEND, at the FBI Headquarters in Washington – when LOTS of FBI employees were off (fewer witnesses).  The entire interview was jut a charade and Comey is a LIAR – he covered this up.  Who was actually present is an interesting question – out of Hillary’s team of lawyers, the FBI  redacted ONE name from the notes.  It listed David E. Kendall, Cheryl D. Mills, Heather Samuelson, Katherine Turner.  The NY Times, back in July, reported that other lawyer as Amy Saharia, but I doubt that is the truth.  It makes NO sense to redact her name.  The FBI redacted the names of THREE DOJ officials present.  Who the heck was present on a Saturday morning, on a long holiday weekend???  It’s a cover-up.

Tuesday , July 5, 2016: In the morning, after this long holiday weekend,  FBI Director Comey makes his bizarre announcement that there would be no criminal charges.

So, when we get to the FBI releasing the notes from Hillary’s interview, in the first paragraph, the FBI redacted one of her lawyer’s names and three DOJ officials’ names.

There are several redactions on who was present from the DOJ.  The FBI Notes list two people from the DOJ/FBI side and have three names redacted, which comes to 5 names, although the NY Times story says there were 8 DOJ/FBI people present, so who are 3 redacted names + 3 others mentioned in the NY Times story???  Something is very wrong when you compare the NY Times report to the FBI Notes.

It’s suspicious and my bullshit detector says, Comey/Lynch/Obama/Bill Clinton scammed us.  Back in the beginning of September, I wrote “Who was there?“:

“On July 2, 2016, the New York Times reported:

Accompanying Mrs. Clinton into the meeting were her lawyer David E. Kendall; Cheryl D. Mills and Heather Samuelson, longtime aides who are also lawyers; and two lawyers from Mr. Kendall’s firm, Williams & Connolly, Katherine Turner and Amy Saharia.

Eight officials from the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice conducted the interview, according to a person who was familiar with the substance of the session but declined to be named because the meeting was private. This person characterized the meeting as “civil” and “businesslike.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/03/us/politics/hillary-clinton-fbi-emails.html?_r=1

When we get the answer to who was there, we will know fully the extent of the Obama administration corruption, to help bury the Clinton email server scandal for Hillary.  James Comey , Mr. Integrity, allowed the FBI to become a part of the cover-up, I believe.    The “extremely careless” was in leaving clues, like this redacted name of a Clinton lawyer that makes no sense.  Who is left to investigate corruption, when the FBI is corrupted too??

So, Ted Cruz’s perfidy today didn’t even phase me really, because all along I kept mentioning, that while he spouted the conservative message, every move he made was calculated for personal political advantage.  His integrity was suspect all along.

I doubt very many people in positions of power in America still possess even an iota of integrity.

Trump or Hillary…. it won’t matter, both are a further descent into lawlessness and wholesale public corruption.

Some important facts in Charlotte case

The problem about ascertaining facts in these high-profile race cases is important.  The family of the black man, shot by a police officer in Charlotte, has presented him as a family man and insists he was sitting in his car reading a book.

The Charlotte Observer reports the previous record for Keith Lamont Smith, as follows:

“A public records search shows that Scott was convicted in April 2004 of a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge in Mecklenburg County. Other charges stemming from that date were dismissed: felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanors assault on a child under 12, assault on a female and communicating threats.

In April 2015 in Gaston County Court, Scott was found guilty of driving while intoxicated.

In 1992, Scott was charged in Charleston County, S.C., with several different crimes on different dates, including carrying a concealed weapon (not a gun), simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Scott also was charged with aggravated assault in 1992 and assault with intent to kill in 1995. Both charges were reduced, but the disposition of the cases is unclear.

According to Bexar County, Texas, records, Scott was sentenced in March 2005 to 15 months in a state jail for evading arrest. In July of that year, records show, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman said Scott completed his sentence and was released from prison in 2011.”

My backwoods view on race relations

wp-1474648668242.jpg
PA Dutch hex sign: Morning Birds (Health and Happiness)

Talking about racial issues is one of those touchy issues, where,  even if you choose your words carefully, you’re liable to offend someone.  I’ve been exploring Twitter for a couple weeks and frankly, it’s not me, or rather I think the format isn’t one where I’ll ever feel comfortable, that I’m presenting myself in a way that accurately expresses my views or who I am, and what I believe or think about issues.  What we think about race and race relations in America is a very serious matter, one that I don’t want to leave to 140 characters.

As regular readers know, I grew up in a large, blue-collar family in the Pocono Mountains, located in northeastern Pennsylvania.  I was born in 1960, a child during the Civil Rights era. This is no lie, I had heard about Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, but I didn’t read the entire speech until my “pasty white” son, was selected by his black first grade teacher to play Martin Luther King, Jr., in a play for parents (circa 1990).  We were living in Germany, so this was a DODDS school.  It was quite awkward sitting there watching my son recite that speech, with this angry black father behind me fussing about why there was this “pasty white” kid playing Martin Luther King (true story).  I didn’t know whether to apologize to that man or defend the teacher and my son.  She told me she picked my son, because he was the best reader in the class.

Growing up, my family lived in one half of a large two-family old house on the outskirts of a village (yes, PA has actual villages – the signs say “Village of XYZ”).  My paternal great-grandmother lived on the other side of the house and our house was filled with a lot of family drama with my great-grandmother and assorted relatives.  My father was illegitimate, his mother, being my great-grandmother’s only daughter, in a family with 8 sons.  My grandmother had the luck to get pregnant by a young man, who had two girls pregnant at the same time, and he married the other one.  My grandmother later married, but she left my father with her parents and he was raised by his grandparents.  In those days, people didn’t talk about stuff like this, they kept things hush hush.

When my great-grandfather was dying, he asked my father to look after my great-grandmother and my Pop kept his word.  My great-grandmother despised my mother, actually, perhaps despise is too mild of a word.  My mother wanted to buy a house, for as far back as I can remember, and move away from my great-grandmother, but my father said he gave his word to his grandfather, so that was that.

My great-grandmother adored me, she loved my brothers and sisters, but she hated my mother with a passion.  My mother always spoke to her respectfully and whenever my great-grandmother had one of her many heart attacks, a stroke, and then later as she was dying of cancer, my mother, being a registered nurse, organized her care at home.  She made my sisters and me help her with caring for my great-grandmother, until she died. Growing up, my mother made us clean my great-grandmother’s side of the house every week.  My mother had a strong sense of “duty” and her feelings played no role in doing right by family, even ones who hated her guts.

Against this backdrop, it’s fair to say that my great-grandmother could only be termed “a very difficult woman” (she was a tyrant, of sorts), but I loved her dearly.  Odd as that sounds, it’s true.   She always gave us change for the ice cream truck that came around in the summertime or to buy candy at the general store, she spent many hours teaching me needlework and gardening, she helped me learn to write my letters before I went to school, and well, she adored me.  She also, despite her third grade education, possessed the skills of a great storyteller.  I wish I had written down some of her stories.  She was a very good cook and baker, expert needlewoman and quilter, expert gardener, dedicated to her family, read the Bible daily, but she was also very bigoted and racist.  That’s the truth.  I am sure many people have family members like this, so even though they hold views and beliefs you abhor, you still love them.

In our end of the county (the backwoods end), there weren’t any black families until I was in Junior High.  I remember the first day my school bus stopped to pick up a small group of black children, who were part of a church group, that had moved out of Philadelphia.  We, being one of my brother, two of my sisters, two of my cousins next-door, and me were the first stop for our bus in the morning, so one of my sister’s and I always sat all the way in the back.

By the time the bus stopped for these black children, the bus had a lot of kids on it and all these kids, to include my brother, spread out to sit on every seat, right at the aisle.  These black kids got on the bus and they were scared.  That bullying tactic made me so furious that I stood up and ordered them to move over or give seats to these kids (true story).  It was a spontaneous response on my part, because I can’t stand bullies.  I told one little black girl that there was room by me and that little girl was shaking with fear.  Thus ended our racial incident and I became friends with those black kids.  Of course, for standing up, two brothers from a large farm family, called me many nasty names constantly, but I didn’t really care.  I knew I could beat the crap out of them, if it came to that (yes, I got into more than one fistfight on the school bus… with bullies).

We had many discussions on race at home too.  My brother and I went back and forth, my father, one of the kindest people imaginable, grew up with my great-grandmother, but he didn’t hold her views and my mother believed everyone must be treated with respect.  I know many of my relatives hold racist views, because it’s learned and at its heart it’s fear of outsiders and people who are different, I believe.

The thing about bigotry and racist views is it permeates, not only in some white areas in America, it permeates in black communities too.

We can toss in the anti-Semitism and here again, my great-grandmother, whom I loved dearly, hated Jewish people too.  Our church’s parsonage was right across the road from our house.   Our pastor was PA Dutch, not from our area of PA, but he fit right in.  His wife, however, was a Jewish lady from New York City.  My great-grandmother spoke politely to her, but she never treated her like a neighbor or a friend.  By the time I was a teenager, our pastor’s wife was elderly and I spent a great deal of time with her.  She needed help caring for her husband at home, because he was very difficult and the nursing home would not keep him.  She asked my mother for help and my mother sent me to help her.

For almost two years I helped get my great-grandmother settled in bed, then went across the road and helped our pastor’s wife with caring for her husband.  I slept at her house, because often her husband would get up during the night and wander.  He was blind, and had dementia, so it took both of us to get him back into bed and calmed down (Thorazine drops helped…)

I watched Roots with her and she had all sorts of interesting insights into race relations in America.   It was while watching Roots, that she told me that she didn’t know that my father was my great-grandmother’s grandson for many years.  She believed he was another son.  It seemed incredible that she could live across the road and have no idea.  She told me that my great-grandmother barely spoke to her for many years and that it wasn’t until my father wanted to enlist in the Air Force in WWII, that she learned that he was the grandson. She helped search the church records for my father’s baptismal records.

Did I ever doubt my pastor’s wife perception about my great-grandmother hating Jewish people?  Heck no, I remember watching TV with my great-grandmother, when I was around 10 or 11, and Henry Kissenger was on TV.  I told my great-grandmother that he sounded like a very smart man.  My great-grandmother launched into an anti-Semitic diatribe and that was my first experience with Antisemitism.  Later, I mentioned Henry Kissinger to my mother, because he had left such an impression on me.  I told my mother what my great-grandmother had said and she told me to ignore her.  She said, “Henry Kissinger is a brilliant man!”   I still believe my mother was right on that too.

Truthfully, I believe that racist and bigoted views, exist in most groups of people, to varying degrees.  I also believe that often in many families, you’ve got a wide variety of viewpoints on race, racial politics, politics, religion and just about every other topic, to include sports, TV personalities, you name it.

Now, here’s the truth, we all need to think about, each and every one of us has biases too, not just the out and out racists and bigots.  We need to learn to work to get to know people as INDIVIDUALS, rather than heaping them into groups – that’s the real key to moving beyond race.  Black people, who are locked into seeing everything in terms of race, have just as wide of a hurdle to move beyond the racial divide, as white people who hate black people. Luckily, I think most Americans aren’t at the farthest extremes on race, so we can find plenty of room to work on attitude adjustments.

It’s heartbreaking to see so much effort going into stirring up violent protests, but it’s alarming that the President of the United States has NOT condemned Black Lives Matter, an anarchist group, intent on overthrowing the police.  Watching the downward spiral on race relations, under President Obama’s endless racial grievance agitating, depresses me.  He fixates on cases to sensationalize, he lectures, he stereotypes white people, he jumps to conclusions before having facts, and most alarmingly he is trying to use the power of the executive branch to push his political agenda, by spreading fear, mayhem and encouraging these racial confrontations with police.  Al Sharpton and other racial agitators spend a lot of time working with the White House, to stir up racial controversy.

The mayor of Charlotte and the police department failed their citizens last night.  Another young black man was shot in Charlotte at that protest and tonight it was reported that he died.  There was thousands upon thousands of dollars in damage to businesses and private property last night too.  Looting and destruction of property has nothing to do with any valid political point – that’s criminal conduct.

Every leader in America should be condemning these violent mob actions, which are not about FREE speech or improving race relations.   The only way forward is to ditch the rage and commit to the hard road ahead of building trust in our communities.  It’s going to take, not only speaking out; it’s going to take the courage to sit down and listen to other viewpoints too.

The path forward isn’t going to come from rioting mobs in the street.

Twitter glitch

Just a short note. Twitter went off the tracks over the weekend with the liberal media talking more about Trump saying a “bomb” exploded than they did about possible terrorist connections. Now it is obviously Islamic terrorist-related.

I’m wondering if I’ve been blocked on Twitter – my tweets and retweets stopped showing up in my timeline feed. I signed out and signed back in, but still not working. I sent a message to Twitter in their Help section.

I had posted some comments to Tom Nichols over the weekend about how we define “terrorism”. I say such dangerous things:
