Time to rebuild the American Team

Busy week, so the blogging fell behind, but never fear I’ll catch up this weekend.  Still thinking about the border crisis and all these children being sent from Central America.  Since President Obama and his hapless staff haven’t a clue how to handle this mess, perhaps it’s time for the States and private citizens to mobilize to take care of the most immediate things first – adequately shelter and feed these pawns in his lame attempt to collapse the system.  This president is a menace to the public good and a national disgrace, but it’s time to put that aside and be Americans first.  We can’t allow children, any children, to be neglected en masse in America and since his administration is handling this about as well as they handled the Obamacare roll-out, it’s time for the adults to take the reins away from him and his clueless minions.  Sure, I know it’s not fair, but adults stand-up and do the right thing.  Until a political solution is reached, these children can’t be allowed to be shuffled about by President Obama with no real plans, beyond his shallow political aims.   Often I disagree with Glenn Beck, but on this issue, I happen to agree.   The President wants a crisis, so the rest of America should refuse to let him instigate one – the best political response to him is to take away his ammunition – these children and make him look like the callous political snake in the grass that he is.  Truly, I avoid using the word “evil”, except in extreme circumstances, but with this administration, their actions, in my view are “evil”.  For the likes of Nancy Pelosi to rush to the border and use poor children as political pawns and props smacks of a lowness and despicable character that “evil” sums up perfectly.  It’s time to take the power away from these fools and rebuild the American team

Bad news updates

The Dream Act, Part II (alternatively known as “Suffer the little Hispanic children”):

Here are a few of my thoughts today, take them or leave them, but here’s what I think.  The illegal immigrant children flooding our southern border rests as a disgusting sideshow deliberately instigated by President Obama and his female handlers in the White House to expand his DREAM act vision.  We have more Americans than ever in need of federal assistance to meet their basic needs and the President thinks it’s applause worthy to encourage tens of thousands of unchaperoned children to be shoved into America?   Nancy Pelosi, a mother, rushed to the border for a photo-op to welcome these poor children, who are merely political pawns for the left and she should be roundly condemned!!!  NO SANE MOTHER would encourage little children to be USED as political props like this!  IT IS REPREHENSIBLE and the HEIGHT OF SELFISH, BLIND, PARTISAN POLITICS!!!  NO MOTHER should praise these poor children, many sick being pushed across the border, with no adults to protect them.  That is one of those home truths, that his sycophantic supporters won’t recognize or acknowledge, but it’s the truth nonetheless.  What a thoroughly despicable, lying megalomaniac we’ve got in the White House and less you be confused, Barack Obama is only the puppet, the person I refer to is Valerie Jarrett, who is the one pulling all the strings. In fact, this President has surrounded himself by a bunch of dangerous, decidedly lawless women, who pull his strings and prod him to follow their dictates.   Without these women directing the White House activities, Obama would drift away and golf away the remaining time of his Presidency.   These biddies refuse to allow their far-left plans to moulder away, so hence you can expect more executive orders, more lawlessness, more ratcheting up of factional fighting, more chaos.  It is their plan.  Doubt me, if you wish, I am just putting forth my analysis and my predictions, so feel free to call me a kook, because I’ve been called worse before.

A Bergdahl Update (and you thought UCMJ mattered?):

Now, here’s a Bowe Bergdahl update, courtesy of CNN.  In case you were wondering, Bergdahl was released from in-patient care and is being treated as an outpatient.  His reintegration team ha been assisting him go off post to shop, etc. according to this article.  And here’s the part I found interesting, that despite the copious files compiled from the investigations when he walked away from his base, the reported letter he left behind,  and extensive interviews given by his fellow soldiers who were there when he disappeared, now CNN reports this:

“An Army fact-finding investigation conducted in the months after his disappearance concluded he left his outpost deliberately and of his own free will, according to an official who was briefed on the report.

But there was no definitive conclusion Bergdahl was a deserter because that would require knowing his intent, something officials couldn’t learn without talking to him, a U.S. military official told CNN last month.”

So, it requires talking to him to make this determination, really???  He also has no lawyer assigned to him, so whatever he is saying will not be allowed in any legal proceedings.  Well, I am not a JAG lawyer, so I’ll leave that to the poor Major General put in this unenviable position of determining whether to pursue a prosecution.

Watching the Rose Garden circus with President Obama and the Bergdahl parents, I will stick to the political and  tell you that this White House is waiting until some other events capture the public’s attention and then they will make their move and force the Department of the Army to drop the investigation and exonerate Bergdahl.  Perhaps, Bergdahl needs more drugs and therapy (a new brainwash) to be ready for the prime time roll-out, with, you can be sure, a fully rehearsed far-left legal eagle to watch over him.    They may conjure up some fictitious mental health issue or something to sugarcoat this bitter pill the Army will be forced to swallow, but nothing in the way they have forced military officials to handle Bergdahl  should lead anyone to believe he is considered a deserter by this Commander-In-Chief; no, he is Obama’s type of soldier – dubious loyalties to America, convert to Islam and turned his back on his fellow soldiers.  Yes, I am making radical predictions today, lol.  Time will bear out the truth.

How many more assaults on our vital institutions can America withstand and still remain a Republic, that’s what I have been pondering lately.  When does the Constitution become irrelevant due to executive criminality and legislative malaise, with a court decidedly tepid about making any bold moves?  Time to go read some Livy and think about our fate…

One American Team

Yesterday marked the centennial of the most debated “pivotal moment” surrounding the outbreak of WWI, the June 28, 1914 assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Duchess Sophia, by a Serbian nationalist.  Historians and lay people pinpoint this moment as setting in motion a series of actions by the various heads of state in Europe, who at this time could all trace their genealogy to the royal family in England, the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha monarchy (conveniently renamed the oh so British House of Windsor in 1917) or as one of my sons lays the blame squarely on “Queen Victoria’s greedy grandchildren”.

Glenn Beck frequently denotes current events as the Archduke Ferdinand moment too and while he often is correct in how he reads the raging Islamist Ascendency sweeping the Muslim world, often the dots he connects in concrete conspiracy theories leave me bewildered and confused.  Perhaps the way to read history is to try to step back and take a civilizational view of world events, then look closer at the little picture events such as the Archduke  Ferdinand moment and from there see what threads really do weave a clearer picture.

Some historians try to eradicate the people problems from history and deflate events to all sorts of other forces at play from resources to demographic surges, to intractable sectarian/tribal animosities, etc. Personally, while all these play into events, at the end of the day, I think, our fate, just like every other civilization’s  hinges on leadership – yep, who will guide our ship of state determines whether we can traverse around those giant icebergs, lying silent and menacingly beneath the surface of a calm sea.  Who we choose to captain our ship determines whether we will sink ignobly into the sea like the Titanic or bravely attack icebergs like our modern iceberg tracking, “FROM SEA, TO AIR, TO SPACE”.

Now, with the current implosion of the fledgling Iraqi state, the collapse of the Bush ME democracy project, the duplicitous and  dangerous support to radical Islamist extremists by Obama, the wolf in sheep’s clothing if there ever was one, we (the American people) are left with a totally failed foreign policy in a region set to go up in flames.  So, rather than cry over partisan spilled milk, let’s put on our “thinking caps” (if such still exist in this dismal failed educational system in America) and look at the map, define our national interests, really assess the “big picture” (the Sunni-Shia battle for control of the House of Islam), then figure out where we want to dig our firebreaks in this raging inferno.  No, let’s not become the air force for either side in this battle for Iraq.  How about we look to the potential for nuclear weapons ending up on the loose or in the hands of total loons, like the Mahdi zealots in Iran or some Taliban zealots in Pakistan or even worse some rogue Islamist crazies?  These situations should give us a great deal of anxiety and to mitigate disaster will take close cooperation between Russia, China, the US, our European allies and Israel (of course, help from some sane Muslim leaders would be helpful, but is unlikely and most likely untrustworthy).

Juxtaposed to the ME conflagration, President Obama has set in motion the Van Jones/Cloward-Piven plan, yes, it’s true, even if you’d like to pretend it’s not happening – “top down, bottom up, inside out” – written by the likes of Van Jones and Cloward-Piven radicals.  The immigrant children flooding the border presently are part of their manifesto, the partisan rancor, yep that too.  The demise of the American economy – deliberate there too.  Arming all these various executive branch agencies with SWAT team type forces, under the command of executive branch flunkies and the President, with no Congressional oversight or control, who are they going to “police”?  Another of their lynchpins is to foment race riots and incite civil uprising, pitting ethnic minorities against whites, workers against non-workers, the little guy against the corporations, etc. (a classic divide and conquer strategy).  Lawlessness at the highest level of our government leaves us in a decidedly dicey situation. Scary scenario, when even far-left icon, Noam Chomsky, fears the Obama surveillance state, “Chomsky: ‘Obama Determined  To Demolish The Foundations Of Our Civil Liberties'”.

We possess the most technologically advanced military in the world.  We possess a wealth of the world’s most creative and innovative people on earth too.  We have bequeathed to us  The Constitution of the United States, a framework built to weather political firestorms and repair our fractured American polity.   What we lack is a cohesive American national spirit, a common purpose for all Americans.  This divide will determine our future, the challenge to be faced is whether we can bridge the huge chasm that divides America into virulent partisan, ethnic, socioeconomic factions into one American team in time to respond to the outside crises multiplying rapidly and spanning the globe.  The time for slogans is past; the time to leap quickly to unite is here, it’s time to learn to be good citizens again.  Most won’t even notice the moment of decision, but the few who are awake will be the ones who step forward to lead.  Let’s hope we succeed  and  calmly unite our country into one American team again, without having to wing it, as in a story I wrote in March 2014, “Who will defend our castle?”

Some VA information

Really short on time this morning, so this will be just a few sentences – back to the VA scandal.  G. Murphy Donovan (GMD for short) took aim at the  VA, “Veterans in the Crosshairs”, which is a must read.  He says:

“Alas, corrupt government is host to many ironies, but three are paramount: success is a liability, failure is an asset, and as long as the intentions are pure in the public mind, better funding follows failure, not success. Once established, bigger civic programs have few measures of effectives. The end game is there is no end.”

He cites a 2012 Human Events piece with more background on the VA, titled, “Hopelessly Broken” – another must read, but also check out all the links in GMD’s piece, ’cause he always links to interesting stuff.

Spin continues

So, an unnamed senior U.S.official leaks details of Bergdahl’s condition  and captivity.  With this administration and Bergdahl health updates, wow, pass the salt shaker on that one, need more than a grain (courtesy Huffington Post):

“The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss what Bergdahl has revealed about the conditions of his captivity.”

What official – a Obama flunky or a US Army official – that is what I want to know? And also the official spoke anonymously, because he was “not authorized” to discuss what Bergdahl has revealed – yet the official still released this “information” anyway – what do rules mean to these people.  Bergdahl’s fate needs to be decided by the respective command authority – not Obama spinners. The investigators should be allowed to investigate and make a determination on the case. It’s time for people to learn to follow the rule of law. Everyone in the chain of the command, to include the President,  has a DUTY to follow the rules and not try to influence the investigation or outcome.

Decided to add a bit more.  The “Bowe Bergdahl war hero” trial balloon deflated, next was an attempt to smear his teammates as psychos and blame the command.  An attempt to spin Bowe Bergdahl “the victim/ traumatized captive” is the next casting.  He walked away from his post to find the Taliban, because from his history we can deduce the French Foreign Legion mercenary dream didn’t pan out, his father said Bowe envisions himself as Bear Grylls the British survivalist.  From there he joined the US Army, but that didn’t suit, so he walked away looking for the Taliban.  That is the intelligence a Special Forces Commander, Rusty Bradley, said they received when they were sent to search for Bergdahl,  last night on Fox News.    MAJ Bradley was there, so I believe his first-hand account of the information they received over the radio when Bergdahl went missing.  I believe his teammates too.

That is what people will have to decide – who is lying about the information they release (anonymously mostly – hiding like snakes in the grass). I am forming an opinion that this troubled young man had dubious loyalties, lived in a fantasy world and was selfish and only concerned about his thirst for adventure.  He reminds me of a young man who came to work at my store a few years ago.  On day one he told me that we don’t know anything about management when I calmly told him what tasks he needed to do.  He was a wanderer (we get lots of those), so I tracked him down and told him that he needed to go to the furniture department and zone (clean up the side counters in the department and put away returned merchandise).  He told me he had been in the Army and we don’t know anything  about management.  I told him, “That’s nice, I was in the Army long ago too, but this isn’t the Army and these are the tasks you need to work on.”  He got indignant and told me his sister works at another store and she told him all about how things are supposed to be.  This young man, like many we get, did not follow the rules, thought he knew everything, did not complete his tasks, was an attendance problem and ended up fired quickly.   Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his unit more than once and I am wondering if he was held accountable for the previous incidents and if that might have led to his disillusionment.  Just something I wondered.

I don’t know yet, that is why I am weighing the credibility of the sources of the information, the facts that have been corroborated by more than one source, and then assessing them.  I haven’t made a full judgment yet, because I am “analyzing” the information . Here is something I learned from an excellent little booklet:

“When we deal with information, we sometimes see through prisms – not real ones, made of glass, but “intellectual” prisms, in our minds. In other words, we approach an issue with a distorted view of it.”

he adds:

“In politics, the word for these intellectual prisms is “ideology.”

To get the correct information you have to leave the partisan politics aside and start learning how to analyze information.  This little booklet I found at Amazon.com – kindle edition is $1.99.  Mr. Meyer’s bio frombusinessweek.com includes this information:

” Mr. Meyers is widely credited with being the first senior US Government official to forecast the collapse of the Soviet Union–a forecast for which he later was awarded the U.S. National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Intelligence Community’s highest honor.”

I found his booklet very informative and helpful.

“When wars end”

Today, being the 70 year commemoration of D-Day, which put Allied boots firmly on French soil, from where they fought on the many miles to Paris, liberating France and eventually defeating Hitler’s German forces is the perfect time to discuss “when wars end”.  So, let’s put on our thinking hats, while libertybelle, your big-box store employee, former homemaker challenges this endless stream of White House spin, “when wars end” blah, blah, blah prisoners of war get traded all the time”.  First, sometimes, sometimes not – that is the historical record.  The larger point about “war” is just by President Obama declaring an end to the fighting and unilaterally withdrawing does not mean the war is ended.  This man is the most obtuse fool ever to occupy the Oval Office and his minions don’t really study military history, being “anti-war” and  so intellectually superior.  The Taliban is hitting the airwaves announcing they will continue to target Americans.  Does that sound like “the war” is ended to you?  The other side gets to play their hand too and since we announced our defeat, they intend to seize on that weakness.  Al Qaeda is morphing and growing, the Taliban intends to target Americans too, so lame White House spin is not only another big fat LIE, it’s putting Americans at risk.  The single biggest threat to American national security, in my opinion, sure seems to be coming from this arrogant, clueless band of nincompoops at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  There isn’t any ceasefire or treaty or anything remotely like an end to war in the normal sense – we’re dealing with bands of terrorists, not nation-state players.  And maybe they missed getting their news from the newspapers the past few days, but the Taliban and other jihadists are reinvigorated with the release of these 5 Taliban terrorists – they are happily broadcasting it. So, really, this spin on top of all the other LIES is really pathetic!    The war, unfortunately isn’t over, so maybe someone can send President Obama this newsflash, since he waits to learn about world events, his administration failures and everything else from the media.  When things spin even more out of control as this moves along, expect more altered intelligence documents to be fed to the media – just like Benghazi.

A short piece by Stanley McChrystal

Here’s an opinion piece, “Securing the American Character”, by Stanley McChrystal in Politico Magazine.  This excerpt gives you a taste, but the entire piece is worth reading:

“Our country has always been driven by big ideas. We were founded on the principle that “all men are created equal” — a revolutionary concept in the 18th century. Social movements like the drive for civil rights propelled us closer to the ideals that our Founders espoused. The GI Bill empowered our returning veterans to lead the country as they came home from World War II. Each of these big ideas responded to crises of the time — taxation without representation; the hypocrisy of separate but equal; 16 million veterans demobilizing from war. Right now, we are facing a new crisis: Citizenship no longer demands a common experience — and so we no longer believe in a common future. The time has come for a dramatic and bold response that calls on every young American to serve.”
