What to tell Putin

Since we already know how Hillary’s reset with Russia turned out and Trump’s comments feed Putin’s foreign policy objectives, NOT America’s or our allies’, well, here’s what I think the next American president should do.

Keep in mind,  I had hoped Russia and the US could work together to defeat ISIS, but that didn’t happen.  Since President Obama and John Kerry grovel to Putin and Lavrov, Putin appears to have decided to capitalize on American weakness and feckless foreign policy.

Russia  is now buzzing American planes and Iran, Russia and China are harassing our ships in international waters, so the LAST thing Trump should be doing is praising Putin or promising some grand new relationship.

The next President should be telling Putin, loud and clear: “This is the only warning you will get. If your planes or ships harass American ships or planes, they will receive ONE warning only, to desist, or they will be treated as a lethal threat and neutralized.” And then offer some diplomatic mumbo-jumbo about how hopefully we can find some areas of mutual interest,  where we can work together, but the United States will defend its citizens, its soldiers, its allies and its military assets around the globe and that is NOT negotiable.”

And of course this message needs to be leaked to the press, so that all the other leaders acting aggressively toward American forces get the memo too.

Then follow through with dealing with the aggression, while clearly stating we hope to be able to move to a level of civilized discussions, IF our forces cease being harassed in international territory.  All the hysterical Sallies opining about starting the next world war, shouldn’t worry.  You don’t back down from bullies and Putin is certainly a bully.   Putin is also a very savvy geopolitical strategist and he will recognize that the old game, for our “leader from behind”, won’t work with an American leader, willing to lead from the front and defend American interests, EVERY day.

Sadly, I don’t believe Trump or Hillary have any potential to be anything other than self-serving, corrupt, extreme narcissists.  Oh well, I can still dream for a competent, honorable leader.

A staged Clinton photo-op?

Speculation on the internet about Hillary Clinton using a body double has raged on since her collapse leaving a 9/11 ceremony.  Online there’s been minute dissection of all the details in the video of Hillary seen leaving Chelsea’s apartment Sunday, looking chipper and in good health.   The thing that struck me, as something was amiss, was the lack of Secret Service surrounding her and how some little girl could just run up to her and hug her – with no Secret Service reaction….  Stranger than fiction.

Here’s a link to an American Thinker piece: “Hillary’s Body Double: Am I Nuts, or What?” by Bill Schanefelt. He writes:

“I remember that old saw: “just because you’re paranoid that don’t mean they’re not out to getcha.”

Well, just because it’s an internet meme, that don’t mean Hillary ain’t got a body double.

I viewed the video at the New York Post thinking I’d get a laugh at the expense of conspiracy nuts, but what I got was a shocking wake-up!”

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/09/hillarys_body_double_am_i_nuts_or_what_.html

It’s obvious this “Hillary looking fine”  photo-op, with the little girl running up to her, was a staged photo-op.

Whether all of the participants were actors or just the little girl, I don’t know for sure.   With the Clintons being the Clintons (Epic Liars), nothing would surprise me.  For instance, President Bill Clinton launched airstrikes to divert attention away from his impeachment scandal in late 1998.  For the doubters, there was absolutely no strategic military purpose to Operation Desert Fox ( I wrote about that on the Excite message boards in 1998).   Those strikes played no role in any overarching military strategy to contain Saddam Hussein.  NONE.  The media tossed around the “wag the dog” charge for a bit, but then it was “time to move on”.

I will mention that the general, americanrommel, whom I mentioned in my Messages of mhere story, was a very public defender of Operation Desert Fox.  Then again, he retired suddenly from a high-profile overseas position, a bit before the impeachment saga.  If the scuttlebutt, about the circumstances of his retirement, circulating in the Army were true, I understand why he would sympathize with Bill Clinton about the  impeachment scandal.  That general, after impeachment, was recommended for a very high-profile overseas position – in the same area where he was serving when he retired….   Hard to imagine how he wasn’t considered a security risk, but then again THE RULES  on national security protocols only apply to the peons in the military and intelligence community.   Others, like General David Petraeus and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, are above the rules.

The Clintons delight in tossing out red meat agitation propaganda, to inflame the Republicans and conservative Clinton-loathers, to get them chasing it with abandon.  Then the liberal media, aiding and abetting the Clinton talking points, will come out and report on the crazy right-wing conspiracy nuts and how this is just another one of those “rabid, right-wing witch hunts”.

And on the right, there are some groups and individuals, who have invested a lot of time and money to take down the Clintons.  That is a fact.  I am going to state for the record, I am not aligned to any Republican or right-wing groups and my efforts since 1998, to expose the Clinton corruption, stem from my own experience during impeachment.   My reasons go way beyond my personal feelings.  I believe with the attack on me, assets from the US Army were used to attack a private citizen on American soil, based completely on fabricated “intelligence”.  I don’t even have a speeding ticket on my record, I have never owned a gun and I have never been involved in any political groups.  My “crime” was expressing my dangerous opinions, like “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW” on the Excite message boards in 1998.

I want the names of every last person, involved in orchestrating using the US Army for a personal political hit squad, exposed.   If the US military can be used as a personal political tool to attack private citizens, well, we have moved completely away from being a constitutional republic.  And, if my FREE speech, on freakin’ online message boards, espousing that I believe in the rule of law, is grounds for being attacked in my home by a retired general, then something is very, very wrong in America.   The only place I was commenting on politics was on those Excite message boards.  I had had no contact with that general since Desert Storm.

Would Hillary Clinton use a body double for some staged PR gambit, well, I have no doubt she might.  Then again I  personally know how far the Clintons will go to silence political opponents.  Proving it has been the hard part, so I understand those who will cast me as a nutcase.  Guess that makes me a crazy Lone Wolf……  whatever, my plans have always been non-violent and to follow the law, no matter what.

Another “nothing to see here” timeline

Timelines fascinate me.  The Obama administration’s kowtowing to despots has encouraged Russia, China and Iran to escalate aggressive actions in international territories, against US ships and planes.  The most damaging image of American weakness, even worse than the images of Somalia during the Clinton years, was the Iranian seizure of US sailors back in January.  This incident serves as a prime example of the liberal media collusion to sell the Obama administration “narrative” and to aid and abet the administration to quickly bury this story.

President Obama and John Kerry were busily working out the ransom payments and pay-offs to Iran, the likes of which these recent plane loads of cash stories delivered to Iran are now raising eyebrows.

January 12, 2016Iran captures 10 US sailors and their two boats.

January 13, 2016Iran publishes embarrassing photos of US sailors on their knees.  The White House downplays the incident and Josh Earnest hypes John Kerry’s great diplomatic skills:

“White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said on Wednesday afternoon that Iran’s release of the soldiers “underscores the importance of the diplomatic lines of communication between” Kerry and his Iranian counterpart. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Earnest added, “We’re still trying to learn more about how exactly that all happened.””

Here’s another example:

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry thanked Iranian authorities on Wednesday for their cooperation in the release of 10 American sailors who were taken into custody in the Gulf and credited diplomacy with resolving the situation.

“I think we can all imagine how a similar situation might have played out three or four years ago, and fact that today this kind of issue can be resolved peacefully and efficiently is a testament to the critical role diplomacy plays in keeping our country safe, secure, and strong,” Kerry said in a speech at the National Defense University.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/john-kerry-iran-sailors_us_56967b53e4b0b4eb759cb3ec

Then we get to the US captain apologizing to Iran:

“The unidentified sailor apologized for mistakenly travelling into Iranian waters – contradicting claims the U.S. were forced to say sorry.

‘It was a mistake. That was our fault. And we apologize for our mistake,’ the sailor said, in a brief state TV clip posted on Twitter by a journalist with Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

His comment was in response to a man holding a microphone, who asked in English, ‘How was the Iranian behavior with you?’

The sailor was also asked if they had a ‘special problem.’ The sailor responded, ‘We had no problem, sir.’

Reports from Iran suggest the Pentagon was forced to make a grovelling apology in a bid to get the sailors released, admitting they had traveled into sovereign waters by mistake – just days before the controversial nuclear agreement is set to go into force.”

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3397254/Pictured-Ten-U-S-sailors-captured-Iran-Revolutionary-Guard-RELEASES-snooping-row-naval-incursion.html

January 14, 2016 – CNN reports:

“In a few tense hours on Tuesday, the crisis had threatened to prove a major political embarrassment for Obama, particularly since the sailors were being held while he delivered his final State of the Union address. He didn’t mention the captives while he was speaking, instead highlighting the Iran nuclear deal as a top legacy achievement.
Pressed into crisis mode, Secretary of State John Kerry led U.S. diplomacy to free the sailors. He spoke five times by telephone to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, with whom he bonded during tortuous negotiations last year over the nuclear deal.
Kerry told Zarif that “if we are able to do this in the right way, we can make this into what will be a good story for both of us,” a senior State Department official told reporter.
With the crisis resolved, Kerry thanked Iran on Wednesday and chalked up a victory for the administration.”
January 16, 2016 – Politico reported:
“As part of a prisoner swap with Iran, President Barack Obama granted clemency to seven men of Iranian origin either facing criminal charges in U.S. courts or already serving time in U.S. prison, an American official confirmed Saturday.”
Further in the story:
“While an official confirmed Obama issued seven grants of clemency in the deal with the Iranians, spokespeople at the Justice Department and the White House did not immediately release the names of those spared in the U.S. legal system.

However, Iran’s Fars news agency released seven names, which correspond with U.S. court records on pending or recent cases.”

And then this:

“A U.S. official confirmed charges were dropped in cases involving 14 individuals. The moves will allow those individuals to travel more freely outside Iran.

“The United States also removed any Interpol red notices and dismissed any charges against 14 Iranians for whom it was assessed that extradition requests were unlikely to be successful,” the official said.”

The liberal media ignores the facts, whenever the facts don’t promote their political agenda.

And beyond the Obama/Kerry selling out the US military on their great Persian carpet ride.  Where was the press asking probing questions about these Iranians release, just days after the release of our US sailors?  Here’s another one, where the timeline smells to high heaven.

As John Kerry’s great deals with Iran keep leaking out, I’m still waiting to see where, “we can make this into what will be a good story for both of us.”

If anything, Iran got piles of cash to fund weaponry and terror, Iran made out great on the hostage exchange, Iran waged a masterful propaganda campaign to make the US military look weak. And all John Kerry does is preen about his “grand diplomacy” and personal bonds with despots….

The truth is that Kerry’s bonding with the terrorist regime in Tehran has put US soldiers and sailors AT GRAVE RISK – he is encouraging aggression against our military by hostile actors.  You don’t back down from BULLIES!  You face them down, each and every time.

Update:

September 13, 2016 – “State Dept Has No Idea How Many Americans Imprisoned in Iran”

Yep,“if we are able to do this in the right way, we can make this into what will be a good story for both of us”… you can quote John Kerry, diplomat extraordinaire…

While America watches the 2016 Reality TV Show….

Iran vessels make ‘high speed intercept’ of U.S. ship: U.S. official

America is completely distracted by this endless Presidential Reality TV Show.

The thing I’m most concerned about in this election is how far hostile foreign countries have infiltrated America’s government and political process. That is how I started watching the media coverage and the Clinton spin machine so closely since 1992.  So, while I believe Trump is a con man and Hillary a crook, it’s the people surrounding them that I am more concerned about.

I’m watching how Trump has surrounded himself with shady people who have close ties to Russia and now Bannon, a man who has been reported to revere Lenin. Trump is corrupt and can easily be bought and manipulated.

For decades I’ve been watching the Clinton sewer rats and their SPIN, which looks like sophisticated information warfare, in the old KGB-style. And there were all the Chinese, Arab, and other money ties, plus Huma, a MB agent, firmly attached to Hillary’s side. The Clintons were easy marks for foreign infiltrators – they were corrupt and could be bought and easily blackmailed all along.

Then there’s the media itself – FOX (foreign-owned) has been a bizarre festival of Trumpmania, where the pundits and coverage was so obviously biased toward Trump and FOX has not pivoted to running the Clinton scorched earth. Drudge smells like a foreign front operation – mainstreaming InfoWars, Breitbart and other bizarre sites and Trump trying to mainstream the National Enquirer (another likely paper with foreign infiltration, imo). CNN and MSNBC going all in for Trump’s GOP Insurgency was bizarre (American liberals own those). Tracking the timelines of events with how the liberal media got the fascist meme thing to resonate was a messaging marvel. I believe that entire thing was deliberately set-up by Clinton and Soros operatives.

And beyond all the presidential politics, I’ve been watching the complete, deliberate dismantling of the US military by Obama – he even wants to screw with our nuclear arsenal before he leaves office. The Russians and Chinese have been escalating military aggression against US ships and aircraft operating in international waters. There was another report Tuesday of an Iranian move against an American ship. Obama sits on his hands. MB types now are overseeing our military’s training to fight Islamic terrorists. Obama has a cabinet filled with people who have long histories of radical, anti-American views and who spend their days busily dismantling the American military and writing “narratives” (LIES) to sell the American people.

I keep wondering what military moves Putin might try between now and November – this is his perfect opportunity. America is caught up in an endless Presidential Reality TV show, the Republican Party entrenched in in-fighting, Hillary entrenched in doing damage control as Wikileaks prepares to unload (Wikileaks is believed to be a Russian front by many serious US intelligence experts), and Obama is golfing. That’s my main concern – as we sit here distracted and unaware of the outside world.

America’s enemies are moving.

The “great” Trump Reset….

wp-1470675306323.jpg

The campaign media messaging from Team Clinton and Team Trump continues its downhill race to the bottom.  After a disastrous week, Team Trump began another supposed “reset”, with Trump set to launch some big economic plan today, while the Stone/Manafort duo wage an all-out crapfest of attacks on Hillary in their friendly media venues, like The Drudge Report, InfoWars, Breitbart, etc. with photos of Hillary looking either decrepit or “unhinged”.   These smear attacks are to feed their counter-attack against the liberal media’s coordinated, nuclear option level, smear attack with the Clinton campaign last week, to make Trump radioactive as the LOOSE CANNON, you know, the deranged madman intent on starting a nuclear war…

Trump’s big “reset” today will be about as successful as Hillary’s string of “campaign relaunches”, ostensibly to do a personality makeover, from arrogant, harpy bitch, to America’s sweet grandmother, all sugar and spice and Charlotte face time nice… We can see how that turned out….  same old sniping, thatwitch2016….  Jonah Goldberg penned a dissection of Trump and his endless “pivots” to “acting” presidential, “Waiting for the Pivot at the End of the Universe”  He writes:

Donald Trump isn’t running a presidential campaign; he’s running a national speaking tour. When a normal presidential campaign gets into trouble you can change tactics and strategy. When a cult of personality gets into trouble, what can you do? Only one thing: Change the personality. And, again, that isn’t going to happen. Ever.

Oh sure, his poll numbers will go up again. He’ll have a good few days, maybe even a good week. And given how we’ve lowered the bar when it comes to Trump’s behavior you can be sure Newt and Christie and, of course, Hannity will celebrate it like the demoralized parents of a junkie teenager who manages to get a B on his report card. “He’s got his act together!” Back in September, I wrote about the tendency of Trump boosters to over invest in Trump’s political accomplishments:

“But this is not an argument for Trump as a serious presidential candidate. It is really no argument at all. It is catharsis masquerading as principle, venting and resentment pretending to be some kind of higher argument. Every principle used to defend Trump is subjective, graded on a curve. Trump is like a cat trained to piss in a human toilet. It’s amazing! It’s remarkable! Yes, yes, it is: for a cat. But we don’t judge humans by the same standard.”

In the days ahead, Trump will stay on message for a day or two and the reaction from many will be “The Prophecies Are True!” and “Watch out Hillary!” and “Behold! The Cat Who Pees!” Never mind that serious presidential candidates are expected to be disciplined for months on end. We’ve so downgraded our expectations of Trump that even minimal or sub-minimal professionalism from him is greeted like unprecedented statesmanship. But it won’t last. It won’t last because it can’t. The “Days Since an Unpresidential Screw-Up” Clock will never hit double digits.

This messaging sinks to such levels of absurdity, yet the media minions and a large chunk of the yammering political punditry class are little more than large-mouth bass taking any bait tossed their way.  So many supposed political wizards leap at all these shallow, campaign messaging sleaze dumps and treat them as serious news and legitimate “campaign issues”.

It’s still stunning that the political punditry class and supposed Republican political operatives don’t know how to discern how the Clinton “spin cycle” works after all these years and can’t seem to identify the talking points messaging.  Most of them seemed clueless that the “GOP Insurgent sent to burn the GOP to the ground” meme was a typical Clinton sewer rat meme from the start.  The trick is to not get sucked in emotionally by the messaging and just dispassionately identify the messaging, how often they’re repeated, where they originate in the media messaging stream, who all is working to spread the messages and then dispassionately determine, who the messaging benefits and to what ends is the messaging working to advance.

Cokie Roberts, on ABC’s This Week reacted to the Trump messaging counter-attack:

Roberts said, “About unhinged and she doesn’t look presidential, is totally code for we shouldn’t elect a woman. That is exactly what that is.”

http://www.breitbart.com/video/2016/08/07/cokie-roberts-trump-calling-hillary-unhinged-is-code-for-we-shouldnt-elect-a-woman/

So, who the heck is Cokie Roberts, well she isn’t some professional, unbiased journalist.  She’s the daughter of two very prominent Democrats, Congressman and Congresswoman, Hale and Lindy Boggs.  That should be added as a disclaimer to every word she utters on any partisan political issues, the same as ABC’s Georger Stephanopoulos, should have a disclaimer that he was is a top Democratic political operative and former White House Communications Director for President Bill Clinton.  These people aren’t journalists; they’re Democratic political operatives.

Newsflash to Cokie, if you live by character assassinations in politics, you might die by them too. This campaign has moved way beyond trying to pull the “mean Rick Lazio attacking a defenseless woman” tactic

Time to put on the big girl panties, Cokie, and quit playing the “victim of sexism card” every time someone uses the same Clinton smear tactics against Saint Hillary. Her whining about the Trump counter-attack serves as a clear-sign that she fears the Trump counterattack will gain some traction. The Clinton spin machine went “nuclear” last week against Trump, with the relentless, over-the-top, liberal media onslaught, casting Trump as a deranged madman, intent on starting a nuclear war (a LOOSE CANNON).

Too bad Trump has spent more time feeding their messaging than his own, so all he’s left with is getting into the gutter like the Clintons.

FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH;

The reason for the schizophrenia inside the Potemkin Trump campaign, I firmly believe, stems from the battle over Trump’s messaging campaign inside the Potemkin Trump campaign.  There’s been this endless battle between the Lewandowski faction and the Roger Stone/big name GOP enabler faction.  The Trump children seem to be torn between the two political operative factions.  Trump was sold early on the Clinton talking points. scorched earth approach and his “GOP Insurgent” campaign, even though that messaging was a Clinton set-up.  That is obvious!

Roger Stone and the big name GOP enablers have been trying to pull Trump away from the Lewandowki (CLINTON) messaging, but truthfully that kind of throwing as much dirt as you can and hoping it sticks (the Carville approach) fits Trump’s bullying personality perfectly.  Last week was Trump deciding to try what worked to burn the GOP to the ground in the primary, with disastrous results.  The liberal media that colluded for his 24/7 “GOP Insurgency” Show is now doing what was planned all along – running the Clinton scorched earth to destroy the Republican nominee.  Despite Lewandowski finally being ousted, Stone and his friend, Paul Manafort have little control or influence on Trump, because Trump revels in the Clinton-style scorched earth messaging.  Manafort and Trump’s big name GOP enablers promise that today is the Trump “reset”….  So start counting how many days he can stay on message before he goes back to the LOOSE CANNON….

The BILLIONS of dollars of free media Trump was given by the likes of liberal CNN and MSNBC should have clued people in that this was a set-up.  Even the fascist memes back in February, the timeline points to Trump was sold on those strong-man talking points being a good idea by someone in his campaign.  Trump did that pledge rally, where he read a prepared pledge from a card and immediately, the likes of Chuck Todd were prepared to hype the “Nuremberg Rally” charge – it was a set-up, but someone inside Trump’s campaign convinced him that pledge rally was a good idea and set-up that pledge rally for him.  That two-week strong-man messaging of his led to the showdown against Soros funded mobs in Chicago and after that CNN and MSNBC pivoted to running Hillary’s scorched earth and Trump 24/7 friendly media there ended.

The bigger picture is way more than whether one of these two corrupt sleazes wins in November – it’s the WHOLESALE PUBLIC CORRUPTION.

MY OWN ECHO:

Starting with the Clinton “war room” in the early 90s, and now we’re at Obama “narratives”, where every tool of the executive branch is used as a partisan tool, to include 50 military intelligence analysts reports being altered to fit the “Obama narrative” and a WH effort to corrupt the Army chain of command, by interfering in the prosecution of a deserter, the corruption has spread to undercutting military justice. Susan Rice going on national TV to declare Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction” was a blatant “undue command influence” trying to interfere in a UCMJ matter.  That Bergdahl’s case is still in limbo is solely because of Obama administration pressure on the Army to drop the case.  Then there are all the other “narratives” the Obama administration spread to cover-up – Benghazi, the IRS scandal, and the list goes on and on.

So, the Democratic Party is little more than an organized crime syndicate, where laws are for the little people and Republicans, but not for the likes of Hillary Clinton. If the email and electronic message traffic, between the Clinton operatives/the Potemkin Trump campaign and media conduits to smear and destroy 16 Republicans, gets leaked it will prove that the Clintons set in motion a corrupt effort to destroy the GOP primary and if the mass media collusion is proven, then that’s a totally corrupt system.

The Badge of Military Merit / The Purple Heart

Purple Heart Medal

Newburgh,
	1783
Newburgh, 1783

At his headquarters in Newburgh, New York, on August 7, 1782, General George Washington devised two new badges of distinction for enlisted men and noncommissioned officers. To signify loyal military service, he ordered a chevron to be worn on the left sleeve of the uniform coat for the rank and file who had completed three years of duty “with bravery, fidelity, and good conduct”; two chevrons signified six years of service. The second badge, for “any singularly meritorious Action,” was the “Figure of a Heart in Purple Cloth or Silk edged with narrow Lace or Binding.” This device, the Badge of Military Merit, was affixed to the uniform coat above the left breast and permitted its wearer to pass guards and sentinels without challenge and to have his name and regiment inscribed in a Book of Merit. The Badge specifically honored the lower ranks, where decorations were unknown in contemporary European Armies. As Washington intended, the road to glory in a patriot army is thus open to all.”

Three badges were awarded in the waning days of the Revolutionary War, all to volunteers from Connecticut. On May 3, 1783, Sergeant Elijah Churchill and William Brown received badges and certificates from Washington’s hand at the Newburgh headquarters. Sergeant Daniel Bissell, Jr., received the award on June 10, 1783.

Churchill was a 32-year old carpenter from Enfield who entered the 8th Connecticut as a private on July 7, 1775. On May 7, 1777, he re-enlisted for the duration of the war as a corporal in the 2d Continental Light Dragoon Regiment, later the 2d Legionary Corps, and was promoted to sergeant on October 2, 1780. He was cited for gallantry in action at Fort St. George near Brookhaven on Long Island, at Coram, New York, in November 1780, and at Tarrytown, New York, in July 1781.

A native of Stamford, Brown enlisted in the 5th Connecticut Regiment as a corporal on May 23, 1775, and re-enlisted as a private on April 9, 1777, for the duration in the 8th Connecticut. He was promoted to corporal on May 8, 1779, and to sergeant on August 1, 1780, transferring with the consolidation of units to the 5th Connecticut on January 1, 1781, and to the 2d Connecticut on January 1, 1783. No record of his citation has been uncovered, but it is believed that he participated in the assault on Redoubt No. 10 during the siege of Yorktown.

Bissell, from East Windsor, enlisted on July 7, 1775, as a fifer in the 8th Connecticut Regiment, and on April 1, 1775, signed on for the duration as a corporal in the 5th Connecticut. He became a sergeant on September 1, 1777, and ended the war with the 2d Connecticut. Under Washington’s direct orders he posed as a deserter in the city of New York from August 14, 1781, to September 29, 1782, relaying valuable information to the Continental command.

The award fell into disuse following the Revolution and was not proposed again officially until after World War I. On October 10, 1927, Army Chief of Staff General Charles P. Summerall directed that a draft bill be sent to Congress “to revive the Badge of Military Merit.”

For reasons unclear, the bill was withdrawn and action on the case ceased on January 3, 1928, but the Office of The Adjutant General was instructed to file all materials collected for possible future use.

The rough sketch accompanying this proposal showed a circular disc medal with a concave center in which a relief heart appeared. The reverse carried the legend: For Military Merit.

A number of private interests sought to have the medal reinstituted in the Army. One of these was the board of directors of the For Ticonderoga Museum in New York.

On January 7, 1931, Summerall’s successor, General Douglas MacArthur, confidentially reopened work on a new design, involved the Washington Commission of Fine Arts. His object was medal issued on the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth.

Miss Elizabeth Will, an Army heraldic specialist in the Office of the Quartermaster General, was named to redesign the newly revive medal, which became known as the Purple Heart. Using general specifications provided to her, Ms. Will created the design sketch for the present medal of the Purple Heart. Her obituary , in the February 8, 1975 edition of The Washington Post newspaper, reflects her many contributions to military heraldry.

The Commission of Fine Arts solicited plaster models from three leading sculptors for the medal, selecting that of John R. Sinnock of the Philadelphia Mint in May 1931.

As described in Army Regulations 600-35 of November 10, 1941, the design consisted of a purple enameled heart within a bronze quarter-inch border showing a relief profile of George Washington in Continental uniform. Surmounting the enameled shield is Washington’s family coat of arms, the same used by the heart shape and the coat of arms of the obverse is repeated without enamel; within the heart lies the inscription, For Military Merit, with space beneath for the engraved name of the recipient. The device is 1-11/16 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, and is suspended by a rounded rectangular length displaying a vertical purple band with quarter-inch white borders.

The War Department announced the new award in General Order No. 3, February 22, 1932:

By order of the President of the United States, the Purple Heart established by General George Washington at Newburgh, August 7, 1782, during the War of the Revolution, is hereby revived out of respect to his memory and military achievements.

By Order of the Secretary War:

Douglas MacArthur,
General
Chief of Staff

The association of the Purple Heart with wounds or fatality suffered in the line of meritorious service also stems from this time. Eligibility for the new award was defined to include:

•Those in possession of a Meritorious Service Citation Certificate issued by the Commander-in Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. The Certificates had to be exchanged for the Purple Heat or the award and Oak Leaf Clusters as appropriate. This preserved the ideal of presenting the award for military merit and loyal service.

•Those authorized by Army Regulations 600-95 to wear wound chevrons. These men also had to apply for the new award.

•Those not authorized wound chevrons prior to February 22, 1931, but who would otherwise be authorized them under stipulations of Army Regulations 600-95.

Revisions to AR 600-45 at the time, defining conditions of the award, elaborated upon the “singularly meritorious act of extraordinary fidelity service” required. “A wound which necessitates treatment by a medical officer and which is received in action with an enemy may, in the judgment of the commander authorized to make the award, be construed as resulting from a singularly meritorious act of essential service.” War Department Circular No 6 dated February 22, 1931, carried the same instructions.

The Navy Department at this time saw no reason to authorize the Purple Heart for its officers and men. The Department maintained that the award was “purely an army decoration.”

No record survives today of the identity of the first individual to revive the revived and redesigned Purple Heart. Local posts of the American Legion held ceremonies to honor recipients, and it was also common to invite the Adjutant General of state National Guards to preside over the ceremonies and present awards, but the practice was nowhere standard.

Developments concerning the Purple Heart after 1931 served to define further eligibility requirements for the award and to identify it even more closely with bloodshed or loss of life in the nation’s service.

In Executive Order 9277 of December 3, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt extended the use of the award to the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard after December 6, 1941, and established a uniform application of standards for the award in the Army and the Navy.

President Harry S. Truman, in Executive Order 10409 of November 12, 1952, retroactively extended Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard eligibility for the Purple Heart back to April 5, 1917, to cover World War I.

President John F. Kennedy issued Executive Order 11016 on April 25, 1962, extending eligibility as well to “any civilian national o the United States, who while serving under competent authority in any capacity with an armed force, has been, or may hereafter be, wounded.”

Current eligibility and conditions for the award are defined in Army Regulations 600-8-22. Paragraph 2-8e, added June 20, 1969, carries the notice that “any member of the Army who was awarded the Purple Heart for meritorious achievement or service, as opposed to wounds received in action, between 7 December 1941 and 22 September 1943, may apply for award of an appropriate decoration instead of the Purple Heart.”

The Purple Heart is ranked immediately behind the bronze star in order of precedence among the personal awards; however, it is generally acknowledged to be among the most aesthetically pleasing of American awards and decorations.

A letter that says it all

Here’s a link to a Washington Post opinion piece that says it all.  It’s a letter written by Captain Humayun Khan’s brigade commander in Iraq, now a retired Major General:

Burning the GOP to the ground

Trump’s still waging his scorched earth against the GOP.  At some point Republican leaders should catch on that Trump’s a total fraud, and his actions are helping Hillary.   He sets up these media firestorms deliberately, so that the media hunts down Republican leaders, shoves a microphone in their faces, to stage these hostage videos of the GOP held hostage by the “Insurgent”.  The questions the reporters ask are always the same, “Do you support Donald Trump’s position on whatever crazy, vile, and or offensive thing Trump has just spewed?”  And then the next question is “Do you still support Donald Trump?”  These hostage videos are meant to make the Republican leaders look like amoral a-holes like Trump or hypocrites for supporting such an amoral a-hole as Trump.

Trump has been the center of attention since last Saturday when he attacked the Gold Star father, who spoke at the Democratic Convention last week.  Trump attacked the Gold Star mother who did not speak, but just stood beside her husband.  Trump deliberately creates these reality TV dramas to stay the center of attention in the news and after a few days, he claims it was all a big misunderstanding.  A week or so later, Trump always declares the media was lying and he never said that.  Trump is like Hillary, he can lie through and about anything, without batting an eye.  They both have this disconcerting trait of an extreme sociopath, where a reporter can show them a video of them saying something and both of them will look straight at the reporter and say that they never said that.  It takes a special kind of pathological liar to keep lying, even when shown a video proving they said something.

However,  the Republican leaders continue to have their credibility whittled away by these hostage videos.  This is what the “GOP Insurgency” was all about and Trump wants to make sure no Republican leaders, who won’t kiss his butt, are left standing.  His scorched earth continues unabated.

During the past day Trump started alleging that he is sure the election in November will be rigged against him.  Republicans leaders should be worried, because that is Trump preparing to jump ship before November and leave the GOP hanging.   Whether that was his plan all along or it’s an escape route to avoid a crushing defeat, who knows, but Trump will bail,  just like he bailed on the debates when Cruz and Rubio made him look like the imbecilic clown, he is. Trump will not stick around until November if his polls numbers continue to dive and he continues to come under fire from all sides.  His campaign remains a chaotic mess, because Trump is in charge and there is no other calm head or hand to grab the steering wheel from him, to avoid  this train wreck.

If Trump does bail, he will rail about how the Republicans treated him so badly and unfairly….   you can count on that.

This is the most corrupt presidential election in American history.
