This past weekend I saw something that gave me more hope. On Saturday while driving on a street near my home, I spotted a bulldozer bounce house set up in a front yard. On Sunday, I went past that house again and there were a bunch of cars parked on the street and a lot of kids in that bounce house. I assumed it was a birthday party going on. I felt like cheering.
There were reports from Ottawa about bounce houses being set up with the truckers’ protests and I felt nothing really. I’m not emotionally invested in the truckers’ protest, even though I sympathize with their cause, but seeing a bounce house in my own neighborhood filled with kids playing, well, that brought a smile to my face. I will never take simple things for granted after the past two years of Covid power grabs, that’s for sure.
