This Administration refuses to allow the Border Patrol and ICE to do their jobs. The Border is effectively open. Thousands of illegals, unmonitored and unchecked for felony records or disease, are pouring over the Border weekly, including unaccompanied minors. Damned right Militias and State law enforcement are stepping in to fill the gap. Want the Militias to go home and the State of Texas, which has just made their efforts to patrol the Border in their territory official, to stop trying to seal the Border against these people? Get our President, our Attorney General, and our Director of DHS to do the jobs they swore an oath to do when they took office. Nature abhors a vacuum…
Kinnison, Well, we have three “co-equal” branches of government and the founders weighed heavily on the matter of executive powers, due to serious problems with gaining a consensus for action by states, to include defense against other Europeans and Indian tribes, under the Articles of Confederation. Lots of pros and cons went into the debate on executive privilege, which President Obama claims at every turn. However, when executive privilege turns to executive fiat, we have a decidedly dangerous situation brewing. Will a Roberts court stand up to the Obama administration? The only test I can see thus far was Roberts ruling on the Affordable Healthcare Act. The House can impeach, but the Senate, being ruled by a Democratic majority leaves actual removal from office unlikely, such is the dilemma of our bicameral legislative structure. Of course, I am with you Kinnision, being a strong 10th Amendment believer – yep, nature abhors a vacuum and states must protect their citizens from all enemies, both foreign and domestic too!
Police the Border. Tough it out. I have a friend, a long-time Phoenix, Arizona, resident, who is pulling up stakes and moving north because she sees no end to the flood of criminals and underage and diseased illegals streaming across the Border and she has given up and decided to leave. If we can hang on until November—problematic, as I don’t think Obama orchestrated this wave of illegals without a plan for an end-game—and vote the Senate GOP we may have a prayer the following January when the new Congress takes office to impeach both Holder and Obama and make it stick. There’s no doubt we can make the case for “high crimes and misdemeanors”, it just remains to be seen whether or not we can pull the votes in the Senate to make it stick and remove them from office.
Being an old(ish) fart, I can remember that Republicans voted to Impeach Nixon, because he broke the law. Little did they know that his patriotism would turn out to be one-sided.
