Candid Camera…….

So, I’ll post a few links of photos, then ponder your own gut reaction.  First up, one James Holmes photo op #1.  Now, here photo op #2.

Now, compare photo #1 with photo op #2 of one, Adam Lanza.  I’m curious which narrative the mainstream media will feed us.  Will it be acts committed by deranged nuts or hapless innocents led astray by our “gun culture” and violent video games?  And one can only wonder if the deranged nuts were users of anti-psychotic meds, anti-depressants or illegal substances.  Don’t expect any straight forward reporting.

Those Terrible Guns………..

Here’s a quick whirl of commentary from around the web on the CT massacre:

From the Washington Post editorial board here

The New York Times adds this

President Obama tearfully pulls on our heartstrings in this CNN piece

More federal regulatory impositions on law-abiding gun owners won’t alter the culture, it only infringes on their  rights.  To be perfectly honest here, I have never owned a gun nor do I have any intentions of ever buying a gun.  That said, what scares me is not gun ownership in America, but the regulatory tyranny we’re being duped into believing will make us safer.  Somewhere along the way millions of Americans stopped thinking and became dangling marionettes with media and political  puppeteers pulling their emotional heartstrings.  The Obama administration wants to control what you eat, what medical care you receive, how much of your own money you can keep, track where you drive in your car, what type of car you drive and the list goes on and on.   This morning I came across this governmental overreach and yet no one murmurs a protest.  Never fear though, it’s all for your own good.  And this latest massacre falls into the leftists’ laps script-perfect – they’re going to do this  “to protect the children”.  Be afraid, be very afraid!

Welcome

Welcome to my  libertybellediaries blog.  Growing up in a pre-computer generation, dipping my toes in the blogging pond leaves me wondering if I’m ready to wade into the blogosphere.    I welcome comments, criticisms, and lively debate.    I’m going to jump right in. The school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT yesterday created another media feeding frenzy, bringing out the usual lame gun-control lamentations and pathetic preening and political posturing.  All the big name journalists descended  like vultures, shoving microphones into the faces of traumatized little schoolchildren.  The media feeds the public’s appetite for as many gruesome details as possible, which is  chased by the pop psychology pundits.  Americans love “experts” and with a news story like this one the networks rush  anointing “expert” credentials  quickly to fill 24/7 coverage with an endless stream of drivel.  As usual, Nanny Bloomberg and many like him jumped  in with it’s the “gun culture” in America or it’s the violent video games, instead of  looking at this specific perpetrator of violence (and the other young males who perpetrate these types of crimes) and figure out what they have in common.  I’m just an ordinary citizen and it seems obvious to me that these shooters all exhibit signs of serious mental illness.   The next question I have is what medications or illegal drugs were they using.   I’m curious about the family of the shooter and the family relationships.  The brother hadn’t spoken to the shooter in two years???  All the things I think would help shed light on motivation will get little attention, while the gun-control advocates target gun ownership in America.  This horrendous event just handed the gun-control crowd powerful ammunition.  Even Rupert Murdoch opened fire with some ridiculous comment that it’s time to ban automatic weapons.  Duh, Mr. News, automatic weapons are already banned.

While the mainstream media fixates on this story for a few days, the fiscal cliffhanger leaves us poised to topple into the abyss and Benghazi fades into some hazy desert mirage..  Alas, Madame Secretary now seems unlikely to testify…… a concussion from a fainting spell, no less.  One can only marvel at the Clintons and their convenient memory lapses.
